We provide a wealth of information on our website about timber windows, but we'd be happy to visit your home or arrange a call-back.

We have a no pressure approach to meeting our customers and we always send written quotations following a visit. We understand that these projects sometimes take a while to get off the ground and we know that our customers don't want to be hassled so we simply send the quotation and wait. Some customers come back within a week, others take a month or even a year and that's fine.

Below you'll find a selection of work we have undertaken in the Newcastle upon Tyne area, supplying and fitting timber windows.

Wooden Sash Windows in Newcastle upon Tyne

This lovely wooden sliding sash bay window on the outskirts of Newcastle is a fabulous example of combining traditional style with modern manufacturing and materials.

Wooden Sash Windows

These windows are made from FSC certified engineered Grandis hardwood and operated by spiral balances with high performance double-glazing - all whilst maintaining the traditional style and elegance of the original windows.

Alu-clad Flush Casement Windows in Newcastle

These were replacement windows for timber casements and the customer wanted aluminium-clad casements because they already had an extensive aluminium conservatory to the rear of their house. The external finish of these windows would match that whilst still offering the looks and feel of real timber windows inside.

The aluminium cladding can be supplied powder-coated in any RAL colour and of course, the painted finish is going to last considerably longer than any spray-painted timber.

Although this property is in a rural location in Northumberland, just on the outskirts of Newcastle, these flush casements look absolutely right for the job.

Small but Perfectly Formed Window

Not all lantern roofs cover a large span as this timber window installation near Newcastle demonstrates. Even so, natural light floods in to the kitchen below giving it a sense of space and a nice natural feel.

The all-timber construction is double-glazed with solar-control, 'self-cleaning' glass to the roof and powder-coated aluminium cappings protect the slender roof-bars.

Encapsulated Etched and Cut Glass panels, Newcastle

We recover, restore and encapsulate a lot of original stained glass but here is a replacement front door and side-lights where the same techniques have been applied to the delightful etched and brilliant-cut door panels. High security multi-point locking, all-round weather seals and double-glazed, the new door and side-panels perfectly matches the entrance. The Cobalt Blue external finish picks up the French-style house number whilst the Traffic White interior helps to maintain a light and airy environment.

Flush Casement corner bay, Gosforth, Newcastle

This is a good example of the benefits of fitting 'dummy sashes' into non-opening windows. This corner bay comprises two opening sashes per side with the rest all made to look the same, but fixed.

See also the square lead detail to the top-lights. Sometimes a fully-leaded window can feel a bit too restricting to the person looking out, especially where there is a good view. Retaining the leading detail to the top-lights only gets around this whist still offering an attractive detail to the windows.

Flush Casements with recessed sash detail - Arts and Crafts House, Newcastle

There are a lot of properties dating back about 100 years or so that have windows with quite a pronounced external frame. The sashes sit deep within the frame - sometimes opening inwards, sometimes outwards. Many of the properties are built in the 'Arts and Crafts' style so the heavier transom and mullions reflected the old stone window framing of a few centuries earlier.

This variation on a flush casement window in Newcastle replicates the look really well and looks perfectly appropriate for the property despite offering all of the benefits of double-glazing and multi-point locking security. The colour (Light Ivory) matches the creamy mortar used between the bricks.

2-Colour Sliding Sash Windows near Newcastle

Timber windows and doors can be supplied in any colour and increasingly we are asked to supply 2-colour windows. Usually this means a different colour on the inside. In this case, all of the outer frames were black to match the fascias and guttering, whilst the sashes and everything inside is white.

These double glazed timber sliding sash windows are perfectly suited to their surroundings - part of this property dates back to before the English Civil War!

Modern Square-Bay Designed for Maximum Daylight

The brief for this job near Newcastle was to replace a failing uPVC bay with a far more robust timber casement window bay.

The old bay was slowly collapsing in one corner due to the inadequacies of uPVC profile to provide sufficient support to the bay above. Engineered Redwood timber is far more stable in this regard.

Our client also wanted to maximise the amount of natural light coming into the rooms so we designed the bays with the opening sashes to the bay-returns leaving the bay-fronts with lots of glass and nice clean sight-lines.

The door is ours too; a high-performance timber front door with multi-point locking and fully-adjustable security hinges which achieves the 'Secured-by-Design' security rating with ease.

Flush Casement Windows Newcastle upon Tyne

The brief for this project was to replace two rotten and poor quality windows with simple, cost-effective timber windows. After considering various options our client opted for these timber flush casement windows for his brick-built terrace near Chopwell to the south-west of Newcastle.

Top Floor Window

The opening sashes can be reversed from inside the room allowing for cleaning without leaning out of the window. By leaving out fixed sashes from the top-lights we were able to maximise the amount of natural light and keep the costs down and the resulting window is a streamlined and sleek addition to this distinguished terrace of former mining houses.

New Double Timber Sash Window in Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne

After...

After new timber windows and doors

In this job our client wanted to let much more natural light into her dining kitchen in a redbrick terrace in a quiet corner of Gosforth, Newcastle. She had timber vertical sliding sash windows in the house and wanted to maintain this theme with a double window to open up the room and bring in more light.

Working closely with an excellent stone company called Classic Masonry we created a new and much larger opening in the brickwork to accommodate two of our Slimline sash windows. The results, as you can see, are excellent.
