HERITAGE SASH WINDOWS ON THE PENNINES IN COUNTY DURHAM
This imposing former Vicarage, situated in an exposed location close to Barnard Castle and Durham was very cold in winter – the result of single glazing and draughty old sash windows. It was essential to retain the Victorian charm of the house from outside and inside so we replaced the windows with double-glazed Heritage Sash windows.
This window has narrower double-glazing so that it is much harder to spot that it has two panes of glass.
As part of the installation, we had to remove and replace the existing, fully functioning timber shutters in several of the rooms. Once back in-place the new timber sash windows look identical to the original Victorian ones.
